The guru of Positive Psychology, Professor Martin Seligaman, says that wellbeing is achieved when we can actively promote our positive emotions, engagement, positive relationships, meaning and achievement. You can see how this makes sense!
But, my 20 years experience tells me that these 5 elements are very tricky to address if your confidence is in the toilet. RIGHT…?
So, by targeting a range of specific life areas and boosting confidence and courage here (based on cognitive restructuring and skill-building) we can start to build your confidence and ultimately, your sense of wellbeing. You need real confidence based on a solid and proven set of beliefs about your capability, a deep sense of self-esteem that consistently tells you that you deserve happiness and success, and the unwavering train of thought that says
“I CAN!”
Once this is achieved, wellbeing starts to develop naturally.
HOW DOES THE C WORD WORK?
This is a women-only, online group coaching experience - I will take you by the hand and gently show you how to take control of each sphere of your life while boosting confidence, self-esteem and resilience.
I'VE DESIGNED THE C WORD TO INSPIRE, EDUCATE AND EMPOWER YOU!
I’ve developed The C Word Method to step you through the stages of developing confidence. The method includes four key stages and I’ll be with you each step of the way.
You can work through the course material at your own pace, fitting it in with your busy lifestyle. You’ll gain access to a new module each month and most women find it helpful to allocate 2-4 hours each week for their work (Don’t worry, I’ll provide you with an overall project plan and monthly checklist to keep you on track).


SELF AWARENESS
Before delving into the confidence modules, you’ll start by gaining a deeper level of self understanding. You’ll begin by uncovering the unique aspects of yourSELF, the things that drive you, motivate you and give your life purpose.
By the end of this stage, you will:
- Discover your highest values and the non-negotiables in your life
- Define your greatest strengths and how to leverage them to build confidence
- Explore your life balance and learn how to make regular adjustments
- Figure out the missing pieces in your confidence puzzle

FEAR MASTERY
This is all about lifting the lid on the fears and beliefs that are currently holding you back. You will look your fears in the face, learn where they have come from and discover how to move past them.
By the end of this stage, you will:
- Recognise the interaction between thoughts, feelings and behaviours.
- Develop an understanding of your own fear response and be able to convert your feelings of fear into feelings of excitement
- Kick ‘Imposter Syndrome’ to the curb by changing the narrative of your self-talk
- Develop your ‘Growth Mindset’
- Overcome your fears and feel your courage starting to emerge

SMART COURAGE
This is about suspending your fear so you can jump … and build your parachute on the way down. It’s about conscious, considered risk-taking within the context of self-preservation and goal attainment.
By the end of this stage, you will:
- Know what smart courage is (and isn’t) and how it feels to be courageous
- Set your intention, make a decision about what you want and what you need to do in order to achieve your outcome
- Use my reframing technique to change the way you talk to yourself and improve you career and relationships
- Refine your personal brand

DEEP CONFIDENCE
The next stage enables you to understand and build both self esteem and self efficacy. These are the core pillars of confidence and will open your mind to a new world of possibilities. Step-by-step, you will expand your comfort zone and discover your spotlight.
By the end of this stage, you will:
- Experience more positive emotions
- Understand why confidence is such a big deal
- Feel less fear and anxiety, greater motivation, improved relationships and a stronger sense of your authentic self

FLUENT COMPETENCE
Next, you will put courage and confidence into practice. You will blossom into your potential as you discover new ways to make decisions, solve problems and influence others.
By the end of this stage, you will:
- Take bite-sized, goal-focussed, action-oriented steps towards your goals
- Understand the power of YET
- Know how to get what you want and deserve

GOAL SETTING
And finally, you’ll take all the knowledge and wisdom you have gained so far and pour it into the perfect, most congruent set of personal goals.

- Integrate your values, strengths and deepest desires into your challenging goals
- Build a strong blueprint for your weekly and monthly action-focused steps

WHO AM I TO LEAD YOU?
If we haven’t met, I’m Mel Schilling and I’m here to lead you into courage, confidence and competence in 2022. That’s my mission.
Based in London, UK, I spent 20 years as a psychologist, 15 years as a corporate consultant, 10 years as a personal and career coach and 5 years in the media (yep, in reality TV). These days, I mostly focus on media projects and working with a select group of women like you.
Every new chapter in my career and life has started with One Courageous Step. From an early age, I discovered a passion for expanding my comfort zone and testing my own limits - I know, not everyone enjoys this! I learned very early on that if I was going to live an extraordinary life, I needed to break old patterns and do things differently. I needed to not just meet but exceed the expectations of others and show them that I was not ‘just a dreamer’.
And I showed them.

As a kid, all I ever wanted to do was work in TV and now, here I am with a full time career in the media. But it wasn’t easy. I was often told to ‘calm down’ and ‘slow down’. Maybe it was Tall Poppy Syndrome or maybe my drive and ambition just made other people feel uncomfortable. I’m not sure why people didn’t believe in my HUGE goals. But I did.
The resistance from others just strengthened my resolve. I became determined to prove them wrong and gradually, I began to internalise my own steely belief.

- Over years of mistakes, failures and knock-backs, I learned that these things are just feedback. Just data to inform future decisions.
- I developed a naturally optimistic outlook on life. I now genuinely see the glass as half full (even when those around me are screaming that it’s half empty).
- My view of myself became one of clear, comfortable capability (3 more C words) - I began to calmly believe that I could actually achieve anything I wanted to.
- I developed a highly flexible approach to obstacles, seeing them as temporary and changeable.
- And I’m still in the process of building patience … this one doesn’t come so naturally to me

These lessons have enabled me to build an air-tight positive mindset, a healthy relationship with risk-taking, an unwavering self-belief and a dream career. Not to mention I met my perfect life partner at 39 and had my gorgeous daughter at the age of 42. Now approaching the BIG-5-0 I couldn’t be happier.

Sarah Naudi
Sarah is a French Maltese performer who was born in Paris and grew up in Malta. She came to the UK to train in performing arts at Tring Park and finished her training at ArtsEd. Sarah has appeared in the musicals In the Heights (Original UK Cast) and Evita (Regent's Park Open Air Theatre) and has recently been seen onscreen in Foundation (Apple TV+) and Mood (BBC). Alongside her career as a performer, Sarah writes and develops screenplays focused on multi-faceted, flawed female characters. She plans to continue to bring attention to telling Maltese indigenous stories.
Sarah was born with a club foot in 1990. Despite limited resources in Malta and the doctors saying she would barely walk She managed to overcome and deal with muet impairment by becoming a professional dancer and performer in the UK.

Susie Burrell
Dietitian, Nutritionist, Speaker, Author, Lego Lover and Mum of Twin Boys, Gus & Harry.
She is a dietitian by trade and studied dietetics at Wollongong University 20 years ago. She studied psychology at the same time and hold an Honour’s Degree in Psychology as well as a Master’s Degree in Coaching Psychology from Sydney University. She has a great interest in the psychology of behavioural change and plan to complete further study in the area of self-control in the near future.
Her career started as a clinical dietitian and she spent almost 10 years working at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead in the area of childhood obesity. During this time, she simultaneously worked in private practice in her own clinic, as well as a sports dietitian and has worked with the St George Illawarra Dragons, Parramatta Eels, Sydney University Rugby and the South African Blue Bulls.
Since having her twins, she has maintained work in her own clinic in Bondi Junction, seeing clients for weight loss, hormone related issues including PCOS and insulin resistance and for sports nutrition.

Anna WhiteHouse (Mother Pukka)
Anna Whitehouse is a journalist and editor who has written for The Telegraph, Independent, Stylist, Marie Claire and was once the Vice Editor at Time Out Amsterdam.
